Toronto is a waterfront city that has long turned its back on the lake. Join O2 Planning and Design for a Jane's Walk tracing how decades of shoreline infill, rail lines, and expressways separated Torontonians from Lake Ontario, and how planning, design, and community advocacy are reconnecting the city to its shore. Starting on Front Street near the original shoreline, we'll travel south through CityPlace and east along the central waterfront, visiting landmark projects including Canoe Landing Park, The Bentway, Queens Quay, and Global Convenience. Guest speakers from The Bentway, Park People, Urban Minds, Two Row Architect, and other firms will share perspectives on the successes and future growing pains of this maturing waterfront community. The walk covers about 3.5 km on sidewalks, trails, and park paths; wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Free to attend; RSVP encouraged.
