Somewhere along the wild banks of Portugal's Paiva River, where the terrain is too steep and too remote for a conventional building site, eleven small cabins have taken root among granite outcrops and old stone terraces. There is no construction yard here, no fleet of trucks parked for months on end. Instead, the houses arrived largely finished, lifted into place piece by piece, and left to settle quietly into the landscape.
